Students need to know how to chain, slip stitch, and single crochet, but will be taught how to change colors, place beads, and felt their project in the washing machine. You would need partial balls of Scarlet and Goldenrod Lion Wool (not superwash, though, or it won’t felt) and a stitch marker and 46 Red #5 Triangle beads and one heavy beading needle. You may purchase the beads and beading needle from Fire Mountain Gems if you don’t have a local supplier. You can see the beads at https://www.firemountaingems.com/shopping.asp?skw=KWSEEDTRIANGLECOLORLINED If you substitute other beads, make sure they are washable, because some are painted and the paint washes off.
You don’t need a washing machine. You can put your piece in a bowl of hot, soapy water and squeeze it with your hands for 15 minutes, then rinse it in cold water. You can repeat the process until it has shrunk and felted enough, then wring out the water, shape it with your hands, and let it air dry.
